A special restaurant in Dubrovnik?

Hello, we are having a small wedding in Dubrovnik and are looking for a lovely restaurant to celebrate instead of the traditional catering type places that have been recommended by our planner, like Miramare..

Any suggestions? We%26#39;re looking for something with beautiful ambience, would prefer outdoors but if the restaurant had lots of character and good food we would consider being indoors. Fresh tasty seafood of course as well.

What do you think of Lokanda Peskarija? Near the harbour? We walked past it last year and the setting looked beautiful, how is the food? Service/price etc.. I haven%26#39;t read many reviews on this place on trip advisor compared to other places..

Thanks so much!

Just realized I asked about the wrong restaurant although that place has great seafood the place I meant to ask about that I haven%26#39;t tried is Taverna Arsenal... ? Anyone been? Thanks a million

Arsenal is in a great location and would be a nice spot for a small wedding if they will rent you the whole terrace. The food is fine, but nothing special. Restaurant Viktorija at the Hotel Argentina has a beautiful view. Gils in the Old Town also has a great location, but I%26#39;m not sure what their facilities are like for a large group dinner. Proto in the Old Town has one of the best terraces, but no sea view. Any of these would be a good option to explore.

The most incredible space for a wedding celebration is Fort Lovrijenac. You do need to have a caterer who is familiar with making the space into a wedding celebration.

When exactly is the wedding date? Renting Lovrijenac does take some extra effort but you will not find anything to compare.

Hi we went to dubrovnik a week or so ago and stayed in lapad which is a ten minute drive from dubrovnik. We found a really nice restaurant which is attached to a hotel complex which overlooks the bay and has fantastic sunsets, they have a restaurant and a bar and an outdoor seating area and they do cater for weddings, the link is

Thank you all for your suggestions.. You%26#39;re help is much appreciated!

It is a small wedding just 25 guests or so. Fvala!!

I just looked up the Fort you mentioned.. I don%26#39;t remember visiting it when I was there last year. I found pictures and it looks like the view we had from our room, we stayed just outside the gate.. It looks rough and beautiful at the same time. Do you know if there is some kind of terrace that has views of the ocean? The pics I saw show me a courtyard surrounded by arched walls, no view though.

Our wedding is next September, and we are working with a planner in Dubrovnik-Nina Bos, she can arrange anything I%26#39;m told. Thanks a million, I found a site that lists a few other places. Rector%26#39;s palace and the Mediterranean Garden which look nice too. I%26#39;m glad these are available for a wedding because we didn%26#39;t want to do anything attached to a hotel or restaurant for ceremony.. wanted something rustic and natural.

Hi CaliCourtney, thanks for the suggestions.. How%26#39;s the food at Gils? Is it worth eating there? I looked it up, photos look interesting. The outdoor terrace and grotto type room look cool.

Did you eat at Arsenal just once? Curious what you ordered..

I remember where Proto is, we didn%26#39;t get to eat there but I%26#39;ve read great reviews, this place keeps coming up and it just might have to be an option and trump the view!

The views from Lovrijenac will knock your socks off. From the top level one can see Italy on a very clear day. During our Summer Festival usually there is always a production of a Shakespeare play, this year it was Hamlet. There are no tables or chairs and that must all be brought in by a caterer.

However if you want something which is not in the middle of the touristy area of the old town, then consider the Orhan Restaurant. It is located at the waters edge in Pile Bay, just below Lovrijenac. It has a lovely outdoor terrace and you won%26#39;t be distracted from the hub bub of Dubrovnik crowds. They also serve some lovely seafood dishes and yes I have eaten there many times. It is a lovely location and the views are again breathtaking.

What about Victoria at The Hotel Argentina vs Nautika?

Pro%26#39;s and con%26#39;s? Many thanks.

|||

Personally I truly believe that Nautika is the one of the worst restaurants in town. So often I%26#39;ve been told the service is bad, food is ok and prices are a joke. Up to you but it does not have the same reputation as it did several years ago. I%26#39;ve eaten there only twice, they won%26#39;t get a third visit ever.

Restaurants, chefs, owners change here often and what was the best a few years ago is not necessarily the same the following year.
