There are several ATM machines in Lapad and it is possible to rent a car there as well. You%26#39;ll see a few signs for car rental once you arrive. There are lots of restaurants where you can get meat with french fries or vegetables. Expect to pay about 6 to 8 Euro for a starter, 10 - 12 Euro for a main course, and wine starts at about 15 Euro per bottle. Copacabana beach is in Lapad Babin Kuk and is worth the walk. It is nicest to walk on the pedestrian-only path along the sea, which has cafes for the first half of the walk. After that, there are no cafes, but you should be able to find places to sit and rest. You can also take a bus to Babin Kuk. There is also a great meat restaurant in Banin Kuk called Pivnice.

I have just got back from Dubrovnik. Copacabana beach is a non entity, don%26#39;t bother. We spent hours trying to find it and then discovered it was just a rocky patch. If you do want to visit it then you can get the number 5 bus and get off at the Dubrovnik President hotel. If you walk to the left of the hotel you can access the hotels beach. We just walked through the hotel and used their lift. There is also nice walk around the coast line from the Dubrovnik President to Cava beach (more rocks). If you want a sandy beach then you need to go to the island of Lopud.

I never tried that restaurant that the above poster mentioned but it is in the guide books.

Buses are cheap, reliable and regular. You can buy tickets at booths labled Tisak (tabacco sellers). They are 8 kuna each. You can buy them cheaper in quantity at Libertas near Pile gate at the old city. There may also be a Libertas in Lopad.

If you drink wine by the carafe then it costs 90 kuna per litre. A mixed grill with chips is 56 kuna. Old Dubrovnik is more costly than this and the portions are smaller.

Its a shame you cannot eat pasta, pizza or fish as that seems to be the main cuisine.

I agee that the beach itself is not great although it has a cafe/bar and you can do watersports if you like that sort of thing. The walk from Lapad to Copacabana is lovely if you like walking and there is a really good restaurant along the way. It overlooks the sea ( beautiful views of the sunset - no problem to walk there in the evening )and i think it has a lunch menu or you can just have coffee etc. If I remember the name , i will let you know.
