2 Weeks in Croatia - Suggestions/Advice

Traveling to Croatia for 2 weeks at the end of the month. We fly into Split and out of Zagreb. Our rough plan is to spend 8-9 days seeing Split, Dubrovnik, and possibly Hvar, Brac, and Miljet. Then we plan to go to Plitvice National Park for 2 days, and then to Zagreb for 2 days. Any tips on places that I shouldn%26#39;t miss? Does this sound too rushed?

I was told I can book accommodations as I go (we are backpacking)...any suggestions on where to stay/where not to stay? We would like to be somewhat central, but are on a lower budget.

Do you need to purchase bus tickets and ferry tickets in advance/is there somewhere I can look to find a schedule?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I%26#39;ll probably be crossing paths with you. I%26#39;m doing Korcula instead of Hvar (would like to do both but don%26#39;t think it will work with the ferry scheduling). I%26#39;m starting in Italy and working my way east to Zagreb through Slovenia and then through the Plitvice Lakes Park down to the Dalmatian Coast. Ljubljana, Slovenia, is supposed to be a charming little city, about 2 hours by train from Zagreb - I suppose that%26#39;s a possibility for you but maybe out of the way. Would give you another country...

I%26#39;m using hostelbookers.com to book a few hostels ahead of time - but I too have heard that you can probably book as you go just by showing up in most places. You might at least read the reviews there of various hostel options and note a few places you might wish to stay, to take that list with you before you leave so you have a few choices if by chance you aren%26#39;t happy with your choices when you show up.

Sounds doable and interesting. Could be too rushed but since you’ll be backpacking without booking in advance, simply skip a place if you feel like.

Yes, at this time the high season is over and you can book acc as you go. The cheapest option is either private rooms (sobe) or hostels.

Bear in mind that summer (more frequent) ferry schedule ends October 1.

One day in Plitvice is enough IMO.
