I will be flying from Amsterdam to Skopje in January. We will have an 8 hour layover in Zagreb and I am wondering if this will be enough time to go into the city for some quick sightseeing? Also, will we need to go through customs or anything, and if so, how long should that take? Also, how long does it take to get from the airport to the city center?

Just about. You have to go through customs but that is 15min deal.To/from center is 40-60minutes.18$ for return.(airport bus + tram #6 )
Taxi is quicker($100 return)

A quick trip into Zagreb will be much better than spending 8 hours in Zagreb%26#39;s small airpot. Get through customs, grab a cab to Jelacic Square and wander around there for awhile before getting a cab back. Maybe do a little background info before going so you know what it is you will be wandering around to see.

Will we find any difficulty getting through customs and immigrations? Two of us are American and the other is Macedonian

You shouldn%26#39;t have any problems, ,15min tops!

We have an 8 hour layover in Zagreb too on our way to Pula. We were planning on checking our bags for our next flight and going downtown to walk around and grab a bite to eat. I looked on the Zagreb airport website and I think this is a frequent occurance because it was in the f.a.q.

You%26#39;ll find Zagreb airport to be one of the smallest you%26#39;ve ever seen. Nice park out in the front. But get out of there, for sure, and into town.

Im not sure if anything could be smaller than my local %26#39;international%26#39; airport. The one in San Jose, Costa Rica was quite small too.
