I was wondering if the 10:15 ferry from Ploce to Trpanj is a car ferry and if so how difficult is it to get a spot on it on a saturday in August?

Hi Kappa,
All ferries between Ploce and Trpanj are car ferries. I don%26#39;t know for sure how busy the ferry gets but I would be prepared to arrive at least 1 hour prior to departure just in case. August be busy in Croatia and the coast road can be clogged with traffic.
I am taking the same ferry line but a different time in September and plan to be there pretty early.
Cheers

It definitely is a car ferry. When we took this ferry we did not get on the next ferry when we got there and ended up waiting for the next one. It allowed us to have some lunch while we waited. I agree that getting there at least an hour in advance would be good advice.

Does anyone know the times of the ferry from Trpanj to Ploce or vice versa and how long does it take? Can you buy tickets in advance or just join a queue of cars? Also is there a long waiting time? I am thinking of using it this coming Monday afternoon or early evening - any information would be most helpful.

You will just join the queue of cars. If you get there early enough you should be able to get on the next available ferry. But there is no buying of tickets in advance. Get in line with your car and then go to buy the ticket.

Definitely get there at least an hour ahead of time.......

We will be driving from Split to Dubrovnik on Monday, October 5. The Google Maps recommends a route that uses the Ploce-Trpanj ferry. The ferry schedule ends on Sept. 30. Are there ferries after that (I assume so) and where can one find the schedule for them? Also, is it possible to drive through the little piece of Bosnia that comes down to the sea, instead of taking the ferry?

I don%26#39;t think the off season ferry schedules have come out yet. And yes of course you can drive through the little slice of Bosnia-Herzegovina. They might stop you and check passports, or they just might wave you through.

I wouldn%26#39;t even consider taking the ferry if I was driving from Split to Dub. You do have an approximate 9 mile %26quot;corridor%26quot; drive through Bosna and yes custom checks at both ends but will save you a considerable amout of time.
