Hi,
Has anyone stayed at the Villa Milica in Dubrovnik? I cannot find any posts on it, and wondering what the accomodations are like...
the hotels around Old City in August are very expensive, looking for a smaller villa or guesthouse with great location...any suggestions?
Thanx!

Just to let you know that Milica is not really close to the Old Town. By looking at their website I saw that it was actually on Lapad. If you wanted to be really close to the Old Town this wouldn%26#39;t be the place. I think for the most part the closer you are to the Old Town the more expensive you are going to get. Good luck!

The Vila is in Lapad, which makes it a 15 minute walk to the new harbour and coach terminals and 25 minute walk to the Old Town. We found it a pretty coastal walk, but there are regular buses. It is also extremely close to Lapad beach/tourist promenade (without compromising its peaceful location) and coastal walk.
The accommodation at Vila Micika is en suite, and clean, but basic. The building and garden are pleasant - not at all grotty or pokey. We were there as students so the walking was no issue, and it was well-located for us and what we wanted. We found it good value for money, but that price reflects its distance from the Old Town. The pictures on the website are a true and fair representation of what you get.

Sorry - reading the original message again, we got the wrong villa! We were writing about Vila Micika! Villa Milica (the one you had looked at originally) is much closer than the one we went to, so I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s nicely located for the Old Town. The walk between the Old Town and Milica seems to encompass solely the coastal part of the walk we used to make.

Thank you All for your input!
I think we%26#39;ll try the Villa Milica, don%26#39;t mind walking or taking the bus.

Hi,
We are a group of 6 french men. We re just back from Villa Milica in Dubrovnik.
The villa is nice, with a very beautiful view (even if one of the pictures on the website doesn t show the reality because an hotel has been built in front of the villa).
However, it doesn t suit for young people : landlady asked to be quiet after 10.30 pm when we spoke on the terrasse... She doesn t understand young activities, most of the time complaining about us.
The place is nice for families. But I won t be back there with friends.

Hi, we just came back from our vacation in Dubrovnik at villa Milica which has an ideal position. We were a group of 5 mature couples without kids and rented the entire villa.
The description on the web site is a little different than reality. The large apartment located on the upper floor is perfect for a family with kids. It has a real bedroom with a large terrace and private full bathroom. Next is a very small bedroom with twin beds with a small window and NO a/c and shares the bathroom in the hallway with the 3rd room. This small room could be used by children, but no way by adults.
The 3rd room is the largest bedroom, but is a combination of bedroom/dining room and kitchen with no door and a very large terrace. There is no separate living room.
On the lower level there are 2 rooms, one with private bathroom, the other bath is next to the 2nd room with a small hallway which gives privacy and a large shared terrace. This is ideal for 2 couples, friends.
On the ground floor, in the back, there is also a studio with private bathroom, separate kitchen, backyard, grill, palm trees and flowers, but partial view of the sea. Also a good value and ideal for an extra quiet place. Any guest has access to the entire garden/yard.
Overall the villa is great, beautiful house, large terraces, all overlooking the sea, clean, beautiful gardens, quiet neighborhood, even though next to it is a large hotel with live music at night, but very pleasant, not loud and finishing at a reasonable hour.
Make sure you confirm your reservation before arrival to avoid unpleasant surprises.
The beach/big rocks is 40m away, but if you want to pamper yourself you can get to the hotel’s pool for a 100 kuna (aprox. 14 euros) with access to pool, sea, chaiselounge, umbrella, baldachin beds, etc.
Another option is to go around the hotel and get down few good steps and you’ll arrive to a nice real beach in a wonderful gulf where you’ll also find a nice bar to cool you off.
The old town is about 20 pleasant minutes walking distance away, it also depends on how fast you walk. It’s impossible not to stop to admire and take a few shoots at the wonderful scenary. Don’t forget, you are on vacation, no more rush!
Besides the old town, there are the other neighborhoods worth exploring, you may find
nice beaches and a must is taking as many as possible cruises to other islands.
Dubrovnik is a great place for vacation, beautiful weather, fabulous views, great food (fish and seafood), good wine, lots of activities, but don’t stay in the old town, noisy.
Private villas are the best choice if you are a group of friends, hotels could be very pricey.
4-5 star hotels bet. 200-250 euros/night.
