Dubrovnik in October

We will be visiting Dubrovnik for a week in October.

Where can we find good local folk music. (My own interest is Celtic fiddle music)

Will we get away with speaking English or is it necessary to learn some local phrases?

There are no specific bars or clubs that I know of where you will reguarly hear local music, but you should have some opportunity to hear it while in Dubrovnik. Just pick up a local guide while in town (the Dubrovnik Riviera Guide lists local events) and look for Klapa music. This is the most traditional Croatian music and is mostly vocals with soft guitar music.

Most people speak English in Dubrovnik so it is not necessary to learn local phrases, but it is always nice to do so. Try using %26quot;Dobar Dan%26quot; to say hello and %26quot;Hvala%26quot; for thank you!

Many thanks for your help. Looking forward to our trip.
