Makarska in September

WQe are planning to spend a week in the Makarska area end of September. What will the weather be like?

I was in Makarska last September from 6/9/09 to 12/09/09. The weather was excellent, lots of sunshine and very warm with temperature around 32C. The only exception to this was on the day we returned home, we had a thunderstorm during the early hours of Saturday morning and there was a lot more cloud and cooler with temperature around 24C. The weather did take a turn for the worse with several unsettled days around the 13/09/09, (I was monitoring the weather from home) but improved later in the month.

Spring (May %26amp; June) and autumn (September %26amp; October) are generally pleasant, with mild weather but without the crowds. This year the weather in Croatia has been extremely unusual with a rainy April, hot May, rainy June and a warm and sunny mid July.

If you need further information about Makarska, have a look at my photographs and trip report on the links below, have a fantastic stay!

Chellebradus, hope you missed this mornings rain :(

We%26#39;re staying two hotels away at Meteor with just the Park hotel between us. Had excellent trip from the harbour on one of the six boats (the Pasat)that do the day trip to Hvar and Brač.

Have just returned from Makarska yesterday, Saturday 19th. The weather was mixed. When we arrived on the 12th it was very overcast but warm. On the Sunday again overcast, rained a bit but warm. Sunday night there was the most spectacular thunder and lightening! The islands of Brac and Hvar and the Biokovo Mountains behind were lit up like it was daylight. The rest of the time was mostly sunny and hot. We sat on the beach and we went swimming. Apparently the weather hasn%26#39;t followed its usual pattern this year. Having been in Croatia at the end of September previously I would think it%26#39;s still going to be warm and sunny most of the time. We only wore short sleeved shirts and shorts the whole time we were there. The only time we wore an extra layer was when we went on an excursion to the highest peak of the Biokovo Mountains behind Makarska, it was chilly right at the top!
