Sim Card for Unlocked Cell Phone

Hi

I bought an unlocked quad cell phone from Amazon for $45. I am going to be driving from Venice to Slovenia to Croatia then back to Venice. Is it easy to pick up a sim card in Croatia? Has anyone done this? We are going to use this to book hotels while we are driving.

It is pretty much easy because you can buy for example cheap nokia in a store for 20 euros which has credit at about 5-10 euros on in and it will be enough for booking hotels. Only sim card is about 10 euros but you will also get 10 euro credit.

Cheapest mobile network is Tele2, one minute for calling in Croatia is about 8 cent/minute and SMS to anywhere in the world is about 6 cents.

Thanks for the info. Just so I understand. If I go to a cell phone store I can by a 20 Euro Sim card for the cell phone that I already own that will give me 10 euro credit.

I just checked it on Tele2 web page

www.tele2.hr

Start package with SIM card is 25kn (3,5 euro) and you have included 25kn credit. After you spend it, you can buy credit for 25kn, 50kn and 100kn. I think this is the cheapest way for you.

Newsstand/gas station sells prepaid public phone cards.For $3/15kn you can talk for ages.

Oops

I think I might have wasted my money. In the US it is hard to find a pay phone. I am driving from Lake Bled to Plitvic National Park and then to Split and Dubrovnik. I probably will not be in a large enough place to buy a sim card until I get to Split. The Tel2 website only had 1 page in English, so I could not understand or find the part of the site that had the sim card cost.

You don%26#39;t have to get to any large place, as said in the previous posts, you can buy it everywhere, a tel.number and a prepaid sum.

|||

So, if I pull off the highway when I enter Croatia into a small town, they will have a cell phone store that I can purchase a sim for my unlocked phone?

|||

No, you don%26#39;t have to get off the highway, you can buy it on the highway, in any petrol station or other shop.

|||

Thanks alot for your help. If they are at the petrol stations, I should have no problem getting them.

You can buy one in advance from Telestial, a U.S. company I%26#39;ve used a lot. Generally the prices are comparable to what you would pay in country, although it looks like the Croatian prices are a bit higher.

As noted, though, you won%26#39;t have a problem finding a SIM card.
