Hi
Am travelling to Croatia Octo 6-16th. Can any one tell me where/how to get a ferry from Split to Hvar? Can I then ferry to Dubrovnik from Hvar or must I return to Split and return a car to drive south to Dubrovnik?
What is driving like in the country? Risky or mild?
I really need some help with getting from Split to Hvar , Hvar to Dubrovnik. Anyone out there willing to lend a hand?
thanks

You can search the ferry schedule here:

Unfortunately the ferry schedule to date is only for the summer time.
There is nothing available to tell me when/where/how to utilize the ferries in october.
Thanks

Maybe this page will help you better... Unfortunately everybody is now focused on the season, so I´m not sure weather you will find information about the off-season time-lines. I am positive there is a ferry from Split to Hvar at least once a day (how would the locals get to the island, if it weren´t so?), but I´m not so sure about the connection between Hvar and Dubrovnik.
If you decide to rent a car, just remember to drive carefully! The roads are fine, but the locals like to imagine they are Michael Schumacher...
Good luck and have a great holliday!

I%26#39;m also trying to find out what time ferries leave from Split (I think there are two harbors?) to Bol. Also, if I%26#39;m planning to go to Hvar, Korcula, and Dubrovnik after that - is it best to rent a car or just take ferries and a bus? I%26#39;ll be there a week.

Only 1 harbour in Split, but it%26#39;s big. The catamarans are nearer the Riva and the buge car ferries by the bus station.
Split to Hvar will be easy - look on the timetable now for low season and it should be pretty much the same for low season in October. You get the big car ferry to Dubrovnik from Stari Grad on Hvar - you can get the same ferry from Split to Stari Grad but you can also use the smaller catamarans direct to Hvar Town. You can get the ferry to Dubrovnik from Split but there aren%26#39;t that many running as it is usually the Italy-Croatia ferry and takes over 2 days to do the whole journey.
But, there are excellent buses running virtually every hour from Split to Dubrovnik as well (bus station next door to the ferry port) which take about 4-5 hours. It%26#39;s a good road with great views but if you want to drive be aware that there is only one lane on each side for most of it so you can be under pressure from trucks and buses trying to run to timetables. Last October I went from Split to Dub on the bus for 4 days then came back on the ferry. Takes twice as long on the boat but costs about the same which was 100 kuna last year. I enjoyed both.
Re driving I have only driven north of Split where the roads are better and faster. But for me it is of course driving on the %26#39;wrong%26#39; side of the road so I don%26#39;t drive that much in Europe if I don%26#39;t need to.

bigwnfan - there is only one direct ferry per day from Split to Bol at 4:00 pm. Its a catamarin, takes one hour and leaves from the Riva in Split, but doesn%26#39;t take cars. If you have a car or want to get to Bol sooner, you need to take a car ferry from Split to Supetar, and then get from Supetar to Bol by bus or taxi. The ferries from Split to Supetar are operated by Jadrolinija and Blue Line and run several times a day.

The answers given last year are valid still. For some reason the low season schedule is not edited yet, but it must appear on this link shortly:

Don%26#39;t worry, Split-Hvar and Hvar-Split are easy. If without car,and if matching your timing, it is faster and cheaper by catamaran.
