Croatia is not know for sandy beaches, majority of the beaches are pebbles but the water is crystal clear. Have a look at the following link for the best beaches in Croatia :-

Although the water is beautiful, there are very few sandy beaches. You can find them sporadically, but the majority are ROCKY (not pebbly) beaches.

Thanks everyone for your responses x

Have you decided where to go?

not really no... but I do quite like the look of the Brela area... sea looks nice as I want to snorkel mainly .....

Lopar on Rab looks like a great place! I would look more into that.

Although Croatia is not known for miles long sand beaches, there are small patches almost everywhere you go. The biggest sandy areas are on islands of Rab and Susak (that is an island made of sand), Saharun beach on Dugi otok, Nin area near Zadar, Slanica on Murter, Saplunara on Mljet...

Nothing wrong with rock beaches! Just bring a pad to lie on and you will actually enjoy it more than having sand in all your stuff afterward.

Check Srebrena on Vis Island...

If youre interested in seclusion, nature, privacy, then go to Saplunara. Its real sand (like build a sand castle sand, not tiny pebbles), beautiful and a little off the beaten path, so its not super touristy. Bonus is the national park on Mljet if youre into an active vacation. I just got back!

Enjoy your trip!

There%26#39;s also Orabice, a short boat ride from Korcula, which definitely has nice sand. You have to walk a bit but it%26#39;s clearly marked. A little crowded but there%26#39;s shade. We were just there week before last. I think you could also stay on the island that Orabice is on, whose name I already can%26#39;t remember!
