October is usually nice and especially the first two weeks. It can be rainy but it will still be pleasant

The weather could be very nice in the beginning of October or it could rain. The water will still be fairly warm, so if you get some sunny weather it may even be warm enough to swim in the sea. But, expect it to get a bit cooler at night. You might want to bring a jacket or sweater.

We are planning on being in Dubrovnik and Kotor the end of October. Any ideas what the weather might be like by then, and if the stores and restaurants will be open?

At the end of October many shops and restaurants will begin to shutter their doors for the winter. Our weather has been strange this past year. Last year in October I was wearing long cord pants and sweaters during the day and carrying an umbrella. Who knows what will happen this year, if I could predict I would have enough money to buy a villa in Cavtat.

By the way I am an expat retired here from Cameron Park.
