october honeymoon islands

Hello,

We are planning our honeymoon in Croatia for late September early October. 10 days - we arrive into Split and leave out of Dubrovnik. We are thinking that we will pick up a car and head by ferry to Hvar and other islands - Korcula? - depending on the ferry schedule (which is off season and very confusing).

We plan to book our first few nights self-catering on Hvar and last few nights in a hotel in Dubrovnik. In the middle, we would like to just travel along and find apartments through the local tourist offices so that we can chose our location based on feeling and weather. We have spent hours and hours looking at self-catering places to stay on Hvar and Korcula, but we are finding it very difficult to chose places without seeing the locations in person. We would like to stay some quiet remote places if possible.

Now for the questions - is this possible? Will we have a lovely time moving at our own pace from island to island, or will we find ourselves lost amongst closed accommodation and unpredictable ferry schedules?

Thanks for your suggestions!

Stick with hotels. Apartments are always hit or miss since you have no idea whose house you are going to...

If you want to stay in Hvar town only, you can get there easily without car with a fast catamaran from Split. You can return than the same way to Split and rent a car for moving down to DU.

Don%26#39;t agree with Morlaque about the apartments.

You don%26#39;t have to agree and that is perfectly fine. But, I am sure that you, like I do, know too many crazy folks, pervs and loosers who are renting their ugly apartments that it is really not worth risking a bad service.

If traveling on a budget is the key issue, than no complaints but if someone can afford a hotel, then by all means, do it.
