I would like to hire a private boat (with operator) to travel from Split to Dubrovnik (I want something faster than an 8-hr ferry ride, but wish to travel by water, not by bus)...
Any ideas how I can book this in advance?

You don%26#39;t have any type of a time frame for this trip, next month, next year? Don%26#39;t know if you%26#39;re going to find anyone who can make this trip faster than 8 hours, if so the price is going to be rather expensive. The boat owner will charge you to deadhead back to Dubrovnik also. If you don%26#39;t want to make the trip to Split in one day, may I suggest that you stop in Korcula for a day or two and it is half way between Dubrovnik and Split. Well worth spending some time here, so much more interesting than Split.

The speed boat from Split to Dubrovnik can be as fast as three hours but it will cost A LOT. Somewhere between 2000 and 4000 Euros depending on the boat.
It costs less to charter a plane...
