Purchase cell phones in Croatia?

Has anyone had any experiences with cell phones in Coratia and Slovenia? We are flying into Germany, renting a car and driving down to Slovenia and Croatia. What should we do about a cell phone? Should we purchase one there? Should we purchase it in Germany, Slovenia or Croatia? We are spending equal times in each county.

Unless your US phone won%26#39;t work in Europe (check with the maker) you may be better off buying an international sim card rather than a cell phone itself. Any phone you buy in europe will work in the countries you are visiting but the SIM card is the important element to make sure you won%26#39;t suffer big roaming charges as you move from country to country. Just type in %26#39;international sim card%26#39; into google and check out what comes up. I%26#39;m not familiar with those available in the US but there%26#39;s plenty of competition so you should be ok. Buy an appropriate SIM card and you will save lots of money.
