Trains in Croatia

We are flying into Trieste in September 2009, can anyone advise on the best way of getting from the airport to Pula, I am told it is about 53 miles do you think a hire car would be better or the train.

Many thanks

Jayne

Definitely not by train. If you are flying home from Trieste, a car would be ideal as it would be very handy for access to inland towns. otherwise, the bus is a good alternative.

Yes the best would be to hire a car and then the next best alternative is to hop on a bus.

Thanks for replying, as we like public transport the bus is a good option, is the bus station near the airport? approx how long does the journey take? and is the service regular as we arrive 18.00 hrs on a Sunday.

Not sure how reliable the following site is but you can take a look anyways..hopefully you can get there on a Sunday at that time!

Thanks for your help, from the web site you suggested there is a bus at 18.00 hrs on the Sunday, we should land at 16.40 hrs so hopefully we could catch this. Is there a bus from the airport to Pula or do I have to go the main bus station in Treiste and if so is there a regular bus service from the airport all help is greatly appreciated this is our first time to Croatia.

I don%26#39;t believe that a bus Ronchi airport-Pula exists.

So, you have to get to the bus station in TS and than take the bus for PU.

The regular bus from the airport to Trieste can take an hour. The express bus will be quicker but traffic dictates. Check buses when you arrive and take a taxi if time is too tight.

Thanks for all the advise and websites, now we have sorted the transfer out I can not wait to go, thanks again.
