We want to get from Split to Korcula on Thurs. Sept 17, and see that the ferries and catamaran stop in Hvar on the way. Will it be possible to stop over in Hvar for a little while and still get to Korcula the same day?

Only if there is another ferry going over the same day. Not sure what the availability of another ferry is. Check to see and if the answer is yes that would be a good plan.

Definitely not on the evening catamaran, which leaves Split at 5 and only stops briefly in Hvar.
