Hi
We are spending 10 days in Dubrovnik in mid-Sept. Given that this is a fair bit of time, would anyone be able to recommend some good trips to go on either day/stay a night or 2?
Is a trip to Italy recommended or worthwhile or should we just stick to Croatia?
Thanks for your help

I would just stick to Croatia if I were you. Italy would be quite a ways away. Some places to look at going to from Dubrovnik--- Korcula- a nice place to spend a night or two. I would also suggest Mostar in Herzegovina- a place you could get to on a day trip or stay a night. Have a great trip!

Hi francohoops :O)
In addition to Barry Manilow%26#39;s post I would recommend touring the Montenegro coastline (you might choose to stop a night here); short trips to Cavtat, Trsteno (arboretum) and Lokrum. There are also tours of the Elafiti islands. Mljet looks to be a very nice place and you would probably choose to stay over here for a night or two (though there are day trips to Mljet) if you visit at all.
Many people who visit Dubrovnik and have a lot of time also stay in Hvar Town (on Hvar island).
10 days in this part of the world is not a burden(!) I wouldn%26#39;t suspect that a trip over to Southern Italy would be either necessary nor good use of your time.
The weather at this time of year is very nice generally I am given to understand.

My favorite excursion is going down the %26quot;Peljesac Wine Road%26quot; to visit the wonderful local vineyards. Make sure you take a tour or have a driver who is not wine tasting. Croatia has zero tolerance for drunk drivers. You can stop in Ston for lunch and then continue the driver on the most spectacular coastline to Orebic. A small wonderful village, also knows as the Captains village. Most of the men from this area went to sea, it is still the tradition. Most wonderful way to spend a day or two or more.

Korcula and Mljet are both musts. I only spent the day on Mljet and would%26#39;ve been happy to stay longer. Renting a bike looked like fun if you%26#39;re interested.
