island fortuna hotel porec, up to date info

Just got back, read plenty of info beforehand. Firstly, the lack of air-con could be an issue for some, especially July/Aug. However, it was really hot from Sept 17-24 (21 degrees at 9:30 in the night, so must have been 30+ degrees in day), and we coped by keeping the balcony door open. Because there%26#39;s no heating at the hotel, it closes between Oct and April, so you see the same staff at midnight in the bar, and serving at breakfast the following morning. They work 7 days while the hotel is open, but they are brilliant and speak good English. Tip - learn a couple of Croatian phrases, they really respond to that and if there%26#39;s a queue at the bar they might just serve you first! Mato and Josip were the most attentive.

We weren%26#39;t affected by noise, but can imagine that July and Aug would be a problem if you%26#39;re in the front of the hotel. A side room allows you a water view plus trees, and noise would probably be much less - especially as there%26#39;s a balcony wall between your room and the source of the noise.

Food is plentiful with an Italian influence, the setting of the hotel is amazing and there are plenty of poolside beds and umbrellas. Everywhere is clean, the ferry is every half hour and is punctual. The trip across the bay is less than 5 mins.

Porec itself is old and quaint with many restaurants, shops and bars. A great place for a %26#39;wind-down%26#39; holiday.
