AVOID H&M Rent-a-Car at All Costs

H%26amp;M rental was one of the most unprofessional and by far the worst rental car company I have ever had the displeasure of using. Had we had another option at the time, we would have cancelled this reservation and gladly lost our deposit because it was worse having to suffer through the inconvenience they caused us and the negative impact they had on our trip. The issues were as follows:

- We had secured a rental car to be picked up in Split. Their confirmation said that someone would pick us up at the ferry. We disembark from the ferry and no one is there, no message on my mobile phone. I proceed to call the contact info and the person I reach, Mario proceeds to tell me that his car broke down and that he has to take the bus to get the key to us (why someone from a rental car company would not take a car in the fleet or at worst, take a taxi so their clients could get the keys is shocking to me). So he clearly didn’t care and took the bus, TWO HOURS later, he shows up, leaves the car in the median on a busy street expecting us to cross with our luggage, offering no assistance.

- We get to the car, its filthy inside and out

- He gives us the Navigation and does not reset the device. Instead, we proceed on our drive to Istria “avoiding highways”. By the time it occurred to us to check the settings on the device, we were 8 hours into what should have been a 6 hour drive.

- Upon dropping off the rental car at the Zagreb international airport, there was no H%26amp;M Rental Car Drop Off among all the other car drop offs. We proceed to park and go into the terminal where we locate the H%26amp;M Rental car desk. Its dark and a group of people who were checking in to pick up their rental car had already been waiting for 20 minutes. 40 minutes later, a guy comes by to take the keys from us, refuses to give us any confirmation that the car was in fact dropped off and in the same condition we received it in.

Spend the extra money and go with a reliable company like Avis or Hertz. This company was horrible.

I%26#39;ve used H%26amp;M from Split airport with absolutely no problems. I would be happy to use them again based on my own experience, but I have picked up and dropped off to the same guys there.
