Zagreb to Pecs by train

I wonder if the train that goes to Budapest also goes through Pecs? If so what would the price be for a round trip 2nd class and how long would it take. Is there more than one per day?

No the train to Budapest does not go through Pécs. The way to go is: Zagreb-Gyékényes; Gyékényes -Pécs.

But why not going through Osijek - it’s a town in eastern Croatian region of Slavonija, worth stopping by IMO; it is tourist-free and they have a nice old town called Tvrđa. In that case go Zagreb-Osijek (approx 4h40min); Osijek – Pécs (2h) by train.

As for your another question from a few days ago, here’ hotel Stella website:

Thanks again. How do we get to Osijek(train or bus) and is it worth spending the night there? We%26#39;ve traveled Western Europe three times and on the third, we spent most of our time in small not tourist towns and really enjoyed it. I would imagine that communication would be a problem as we speak only English and a little Spanish.

Osijek is not a small town but is not really a city, think you might like it. Spending a night there – why not. Besides it is really handy to get to Pecs from there.

You can reach Osijek by either bus or train from Zagreb, I’d take the train. And no worries about communication, folks will speak some English.

Thanks, we just might do that.
