Hello All-
I%26#39;m arriving in Split the morning of September 19th and leaving for Dubrovnik on Tuesday morning, the 22nd. Right now the forecast is for rain for much of that time. Believe me, I know that weather forecasters can be wrong, but I want to be prepared and research some options before we arrive.
Thanks for any and all suggestions!!!
Maureen

There are some decent museums in Split as one suggestion.

...or you could buy an umbrella and enjoy the walk around the Diocletians%26#39; Palace

Yes check out some museums such as the Mestrovic Gallery---

Getting an umbrella would also be a good idea.

Go to F cafe on the promenade, order tea and just watch the ferries go by... But, I am sure you are not here for watching ferries so umbrella in your hand and explore the Palace or take the bus to Trogir

Thanks everyone. I definitely want to explore the palace, rain or shine!!! Are there many parts of the palace that are indoors so we can escape if the rain is heavy? One of the days (Sunday or Monday) we were going to take a ferry over to Hvar. I%26#39;m keeping my fingers crossed that the rain will be minimal (or none at all!). I%26#39;ve been planning this trip for a couple of years, and I%26#39;ve been envisioning everything with sunny skies, but I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll enjoy ourselves either way...

We live in Split and will be happy to meet you of you get stuck...but it rarely rains all day; here are our suggestions for spending time indoors:
1. The Split City Museeum is a real treat...first, it%26#39;s located right in the heart of the Palace in a grand Ranaissance building. It takes you all the way through 1,700 years of history from the gold coins and Roman relics of the Diocletian era on the first floor to 19thC furniture upstairs!
The Mestrovic Gallery has already been mentioned, easy to get to using the #12 bus that leaves from the end of the Riva by the Sv Frane church twice an hour.
The Ethnographic and Archeological Museums are also very unstuffy and a real pleasure to be in.....the Ethnographic Museum is also smack in the Palace, just behind the Vestibul. The Archeological Musuem is a 10 minute walk north of town, easy to find.
The Cathedral, just off the Peristil in the Palace is a nice way to spend an hour if you get caught in the rain while walking there--especially if you go upstairs to the Treasury (separate admission, but fascinating!)
Last but not least there are a ton of sales on now---shoes, always big in Croatia!, clothes, jewelry and more....so go shopping and save!

%26quot;sightseeingcroatia%26quot; Thank you very much for your suggestions, I%26#39;m jotting them down now. Rain or shine, those will be worth visiting. I%26#39;m glad to hear that it usually doesn%26#39;t rain all day. We%26#39;re leaving tomorrow night, and I can%26#39;t wait to get there!!!
|||
The forecast for next week is sunny :))))))) You are in luck.
I would strongly suggest to avoid clothes or shoes shopping since you may get a heart attack comparing US prices to Croatian

I looked at the forecast this morning and it looks like it%26#39;s going to be great! A small amount of rain would not interfere with us having a good time, but the forecast earlier in the week made it seem like we weren%26#39;t going to see the sun ( I should have known better than to believe them!!!).
My husband was thrilled to hear you say that we should avoid clothes shopping!!!!
