hvar to makarska day trips

is this possible by ferry or private trips that u see advertised in the ports. time and distance wise is it even viable?. wanting to see more of croatia after expriencing dubrovnik and the south of the country.looking at staying in hvar as it looks lovely and working out what day trips u could take. presume u can take trips to bol/brac easily enough

I don%26#39;t know for such trips, but you can make daytrips to Paklinski islands(Palmižana and other), Bol on island Brač, Vis and Biševo island. For Vis the ferry schedules are not on your side, but there are organized day trips.

Why Makarska ? It is too south for daytrip from Hvar. Only,If you rent a car and like to see the whole island of Hvar, drive to the opposite side to Sućuraj, take the ferry to Drvenik and from there Makarska is very near. This can be done by car in a day-very easy.

I agree, why Makarska? Though it is nice in the Makarska area, I wouldn%26#39;t spend a whole lot of time trying to get there when you should be enjoying Hvar. But if you do rent a car you could do what Jelsa suggested.

ok thanks for your imput. why makarska?.well tbh i dont really have an answer. just from looking on the net it seems to be a major resort and looks very nice. is it not really worth visiting? unless u want to sit on the beahc all day? i tend to not go back to places unless i really like them as theres so many places to see so i like to see as much as possible while im there. very early stage but im thinking of something like a week on hvar then maybe a couple of nights in split and 4 mights or so in trogir. any thoughts or is a week to long of hvar

Of course,I am not against Makarska(neither is Barry, I think). I just said that Makarska was not practical for a day trip from Hvar.

I don%26#39;t think that a week is too much for Hvar, you will have at least 3 days day trips(Paklinski islands, Vis, Bol...)so there will not be too much time on Hvar.

I am definitely not against Makarska! I have found it to be a nice place to visit and having the Biokovo Mts. as a backdrop is a great thing. It just might be a pain to try to get there for a day trip and I would instead look to go somewhere else, like Bol on Brac.

ok thanks barry. just testing the waters at the min. gives me an idea. as others say there seems to be a good few other day trips from hvar that would be better suited so ill look into them aswell

To the island of Vis you have daily excursions and once in the week a catamaran line (also in the winter time).

Yes, the cat is on Ttuesdays only, but suitable for day trips from Vis to Hvar only, and not vice versa.

She could go to Vis after leaving Hvar, than from Vis she could go to Split and then to another destination...

The cat to Vis leaves in afternoon (on Tuesdays)
