Stay in Old Town or Lapad?

We are looking at a couple of different villas/apartments to stay, one is in Old-Town, one is in Lapad and one with an ocean within a few km outside of Old Town. We are traveling with 6 adults and a 10 month old next May/June and dont want to rent a car.

Does anyone have recommendations in which area to stay?

Look for something in the Ploce area of Dubrovnik. To me there would be nothing better than to be near the Old Town, but also having a terrace to look out at the Old Town walls. It might entail a few stairs to climb, but the view would be worth it.

You should think twice about climbing the steps up to an apartment with a child as I assume you will be pushing a stroller. The old town can very noisy during high season, it depends how close you are to many of the bars and cafes. Many times apartment owners do not give you the entire total count of steps. Recently I met with a young lady who gave up her first choice after counting more than 600 steps and moved into a place closer to the town. Perhaps Lapad might be a better choice for your large group.

Either Lapad or Ploce are good areas if you don%26#39;t have a car. As mentioned above, be sure to get the stair count for apartments in Ploce as some may have 4 or 5 hundred stairs from the Old Town. There can also be a lot of stairs in some areas of Lapad. Anytime there is a view, there is likely to be stairs to get down to the center of town or the beach.
