flexible itinerary ideas

Since we have 15-16 days in Croatia starting in late October, we have the following rough plan and would welcome ideas and suggestions. We are two couples and will have a car for most of the time.

3 days Dubrovnik, including 1 with car to Montenegro, Cavtat-

renting an apartment in advance

1-2 days on Hvar if possible- so far Jadrolinija car ferry

schedule does not look good for this, unless we find other

ferry options while we are there

3 days in Sibenik or Trogir as a base- suggestions?

1 flexible day with no plans- ideas?

2 nights, Plitvice Lakes Natl Pk- with advance reservations

2 days Istrian peninsula- we do not plan to reserve in advance

2 days Zagreb with advance reservations

We thought that in the off season we could be somewhat flexible, with some reservations as indicated.

We will have a laptop and plan to buy a local SIM card for mobile phone which should help with last minute reserving. Any suggestions as to which SIM card might get the best coverage in these areas?

Thanks

I like the looks of your plan. As I already said on the other post, you can easily drive up the Peljesac and get to Korcula from Orebic and spend some time there. You could also drive to Split and take a ferry out to Hvar if you wanted to spend time in Hvar rather than Korcula.

I think Sibenik or Trogir would both be good, but I would prefer Trogir. You could easily visit Split from there or get to Krka from there too.

For that flex day, how about spending a night in Zadar? That will get you closer to Plitvice so it won%26#39;t be as long of a drive. Or maybe you will want to spend more time on one of the islands and just be flexible that way.
