12 free days after escorted tour.

We will have 12 more days to explore Croatia and Slovenia after our Gate1 tour. We%26#39;re thinking about getting an apartment somewhere on the Dalmatian coast for a week and then another place in Zagreb for the remainder as we fly out of Zagreb. We%26#39;ll be doing this from Nov.1 to Nov.12 and I%26#39;m wondering what kind of weather can we expect. Will it be warmer in Dubrovnik since it is further south? Would it be as nice weather wise in Trogir or Split? I%26#39;m hearing rainy season on this forum. Being from So. Cal. I%26#39;m not sure exactly what that means(every day, all day or just showers). One more question. Our tour ends in Bled. What is the best way to get back to Dubrovnik? What would a one way flight cost? Thanks in advance for any help.

For flights within the country, use www.croatiaairlines.com Good prices and good service

Rainy can mean even 3-4 days of rain but that is not that often.

It does not necessarily mean that further south you stay, better the weather but it will be definitely warmer than in Zagreb or in Istria.

From Bled, take a train/bus to Ljubljana and then another to Zagreb where you catch the flight to Dubrovnik.

Thanks Morlaque. That%26#39;s a great help. So are you saying the weather in Split and Dubrovnik is about the same? If that%26#39;s the case, I would lean toward Trogir/Split since our escorted tour is spending 3 days in Dubrovnik.

If your tour is spending three days in Dubrovnik, then by all means go to Trogir for a couple of nights.

Thanks Barry. I was wondering when you%26#39;d check in. I%26#39;ve been reading a lot of your responses and even though I didn%26#39;t ask the questions, your answers have been very helpful. You said a day or two in Trogir. We really want to pick a place on the Dalmation coast and rent an apartment for 8 or 9 days and work out of there. Rent a car some days, take a ferry to and island another day and just kick back on other days. Would Trogir be your best choice for that?

It looks like the best way from Ljubljana to Split would be a train to Zagreb and then another to Split. Would appreciate any suggestions from you since you%26#39;ve been so helpful already.

I like the idea of Trogir being your base. It is very small and charming and would be an ideal place to venture out from. You could get to Split, Zadar, Sibenik, Krka Falls and maybe even a longer day trip to Plitvice, along with maybe getting out to the islands from nearby Split. I think the idea of taking a train is a good idea, but taking a bus might be good too. Also there are some pretty cheap flights from place to place in Croatia, so you might want to check if a flight to Split from Zagreb would work out. The airport in Split is actually closer to Trogir than it is to Split so that might work out too.

I just did a quick check on this last website and the price of a ticket from Zagreb to Split on the 1st of November would be 219 kuna which would be about 43 dollars and the flight would take about 45 minutes. Just something to think about.

Thanks again Barry. We%26#39;re certainly leaning in that direction. I%26#39;m just wondering if we should reserve and apartment before we leave or since it%26#39;s off season, check them out when we get there. Is there a tourism office in Trogir that sets up accomodations?
