My fiance and I (mid to late 20s) are going to Croatia from 11 Sept to 26 Sept and have been trying hard to include as much as we can into our itinerary for this period of time. To ensure this, we have booked our flights into Dubrovnik and out of Trieste.
I have reviewed some of the previous TA postings on intinerary input and based on some of the comments i have seen this is our proposed itinerary so far
3 nights Dubrovnik
1 Night Korcula
2 nights Hvar
2 nights Split
1 night Plitivice Lakes
2 nights Zadar and Pag
2 nights Rovinj with a day trip to Pula
1 night Trieste
with one night to spare. We would be extremely grateful if you could provide us with some input/tips on this itinerary.
We were hoping for a relaxing holiday but seems like we will be doing a lot of moving around! But there is so much to see that it would be a shame to miss out!
Thanking you all in advance!

Yes lots of traveling around but that%26#39;s the way we usually do it too. First of all I would stay in Trogir rather than Split. You can spend a few hours in Split and then move on to Trogir, a smaller place with much more charm. I would also skip Pag, just for the fact of having to get out there and back. Spend the couple of days in Zadar. The only other thing I would do is stay two days in Korcula. I think it would be better if you had two nights because one of the days will be used to get there, so two nights there and one full day would be better. I like your itinerary though!

As you are not coming from over the ocean, why to include so much(especially, bearing in mind that you want relaxing holidays)? You are so near, many people come from UK driving.
I would skip a part of your itinerary ,and save it for the next trip.

Thank you both for your insights i really appreciate it. We are a little concerned this is quite tight and we may not be able to relax. Any suggestions for a less busy yet still full itinerary given we are flying into Dubrovnik and out of Trieste?
Thank you again - your input is invaluable!!

Knowing that you are leaving from Trieste, there is not much you could do different. You could skip Split/Trogir and go to Zadar. There you would be driving a lot more in one day, but you could then relax at one place for a longer period of time. As I already stated I do think you need to spend more time in Korcula, or maybe you need to look at going to only one of the islands- Korcula or Hvar. 15 days is a good amount of time though and your itinerary could be done.

Thanks so much BM! Which would you suggest for this trip? Hvar or Korcula?
Would you recommend driving up to Zadar or getting a bus?
Thanks again :)

sorry one more question...
now we are thinking of getting the boat from Hvar to Split and just staying there long enough for lunch and renting a car. Would you suggest we drive to Plitivice Lakes from there or to Zadar and drive to Plitivice Lakes from Zadar once we have finished en-route to Istria?
Cheers!

I think you should rent the car and drive to Zadar, with a stop at Krka Falls on the way. Then go to Plitvice enroute to Istria. In regards to your other question it seems you have already decided on Hvar, which is a good choice. I don%26#39;t think you could go wrong with either choice as Korcula is also a very nice place!

BM you are an absolute legend!
Thank you so much for your advice! Here is my revised itinerary:
3 nights Dubrovnik 11-14 Sept
3 Night Korcula (not sure whether we should do 3 nights here or in Hvar yet) 14-17 Sept
2 nights Hvar 17-19 Sept
1/2 day in Split to see Diocletian%26#39;s palace and have lunch and then get the car and drive to Zadar via Krka waterfalls
2 nights Zadar 19-21 Sept
1 night Plitivice Lakes 21 Sept (get there from Zadar, spend day of 22 Sept there, drive to Rovinj)
3 nights Rovinj with a day trip to Pula 22-25 Sept (last day will be the day trip to Pula en-route to Trieste)
1 night Trieste 25 Sept
would you suggest driving from Split to the end of the trip or just to Zadar? is it relatively easy to drive in Croatia? would you suggest hiring the car before we go or wait until we get there?
Sorry to keep bombarding you with questions - we really appreciate your help to make the most out of our long-awaited trip!

I think it is easy enough to drive in Croatia and from Zadar to Plitvice you could take the Croatian Autoceste, their toll road. I do think it would be better to have the car to Plitvice, you could always drop it off once you got to Rovinj.

I think getting the car before you arrive would be better. Also.. I love your updated itinerary!
