Jewels of the Adriatic with SmarTours

We%26#39;re scheduled to leave on Sept.3 on this tour. I received our final documents yesterday. There was an unexpected, decidedly negative letter included. The letter stated that the accommodations would not be what we were used to. %26quot;For example, non-smoking rooms or rooms with queen-size beds may not be available.%26quot; In fact, some %26quot;rooms are rather small!%26quot; Also, there maybe %26quot;a last minute change in the hotels listed on your hotel list.%26quot; It goes on about considerable driving distances and delays and lots of walking.

Has someone taken this tour recently? Did you receive this letter? What was the tour like?

We have traveled in Europe extensively and have never received a warning letter just before departure. SmarTours advertises Deluxe and First Class hotels on this tour. I don%26#39;t understand the letter. I will be calling them today for an explanation.

Can you tell me if you took this trip? What were the accommodations like? Were you satisfied with Smartours?

Hi I%26#39;m scheduled to go on this tour in July 2009... Did you go? How was it....I love Smartours have used them often. I%26#39;m hoping that your letter was an announcement because some people think that their hotel should be 5 star and in some countries 5 star is really 3.. They are hopefully warning you that air sometimes goes out... electricity may have issues. We had that warning at Machu Pechu... There were no lux hotel to be found... Location is more important to me than Lux.

I was just investigating the Jewels of the Adriatic tour with Smartours and saw your message on Trip Advisor. Please advise if you went and whether you were disappointed in the tour and accommodations. I%26#39;ve already read such glowing reports about them, it would be a shame if your trip was not as expected. Hope you had a great time and I%26#39;d appreciate your input about it. Thanks, Loparm

Loparm:

After 30 years in the travel industry I know how to spot a tour company which I would never do business with. And after looking at their website I can tell you with no hesitation I would never allow a clinet to book with this company. First they are not experts in any one area, they book everything from Asia to South America and Europe. They have nothing written on the site %26quot;About Them%26quot; and their experience or background. They are cheap and it is those kinds of companies who will send you a letter with you final documents, after you%26#39;ve made final payment which states that the hotels are not really what they advertise. Buyer beware. Please do think twice about using a company which knows nothing, absolutely nothing about Croatia. If you want to tour our wonderful coast line perhaps you should contact a Croatian expert such as a company based in Croatia. Please think twice about what type of company you are giving your hard earned money.

Loparm,

As it turned out, due to a health issue, we were unable to take this trip. Sorry I can%26#39;t be of any help.
