Hello. I can see form previous posts that the general consensus is that it%26#39;s better to wait until we get to Porec to change Sterling to Kuna. At the moment, in the UK, the best rate I can get is 8.17 Kuna to the pound. Could anyone give me a vague idea of the best rate currently available in Croatia. I can%26#39;t find a website for croatian banks where I could look it up - we don%26#39;t go for another 2 weeks so I want to monitor the rate over the next few days.I have always ordered currency before we go on holiday so it%26#39;s a novelty to dare to wait until we get out there; however, if it saves us £30 or so, it%26#39;ll be worth doing.
Many thanks.

Hi, here is link to Croatian National Bank where you can check exchange rate every day. http://www.hnb.hr/tecajn/htecajn.htm

That%26#39;s exactly what i wanted to see - fantastic. Many thanks for replying so quickly! I shall definitely wait until we go out there now as the rate looks so much better than what I can get in the UK.

just looked on your link to croatian babks. the best i can find here is 8.03 to the pound , there it looks like 8.45. that seems a huge difference but very pleasing. we plan to take £500 cash and change it there, is that what you did and were there any problems?

Hi
Have you thought about using an ATM - we did - taking out about £250 per transaction which is my daily limit. Got 8.54 Kunas to the pound, there were some charges but it was still worth it. BTW very few restaurants take credit cards so we ended up needing quite a lot of cash, I am not sure how long £500 would last as prices may be more than you think.
A basic pizza/pasta meal for 2 adults and 2 children with soft drinks and local wine in a caraffe (no starters or deserts) cost around £50 - no CCs
The next level of restaurant are those serving meat and fish where you will spend considerably more but the quality of the places we tried was very good - accept CCs.
We loved our holiday in Croatia as I am sure that you will.

just got back from Porec and the rate for cash was up to 8.2 compared to under 7.7 here. A big possible pitfall and one that caught us by surprise was that even the banks gave vastly different rates (between 7.9 and 8.2) the best was Bank of Croatia down the left side of the Church from the main square
