Hi All,
We are considering visiting Croatia next July with our two children who will be ages 6 and 9. They are fairly good travelers - we visited South Africa last year and managed to see quite a lot of the country and had an amazing time. I have a few questions:
-From a tourist perspecive, do you think Croatia is a good family-friendly country to visit with activities that would appeal to all?
-I would love any itinerary recommendations as I am just beginning the research. We%26#39;ll probably visit for 10 days and really like to see as much as we possibly can. I know a lot of people prefer to get to know a country by staying put (which I respect, BTW!), but that is not us. :)
-Related, is it worth trying to see any of the neighboring countries?
Any advice or suggestions are much appreciated!
Kind regards,
Stacy

Hi Stacey,
We just visited Croatia in September with our 2 year old daughter and I can say that it is very child friendly. My toughts and tips are as follows:
- In 10 days, try to stick to 1 or 2 places as your base and do day trips to other places.
- Zagreb, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik are the 4 main airports that can be reached easily from major European cities, therefore, near to these places represent your best bet for bases.
- Zagreb holds the least appeal for children.
- From Split, I would consider 2 places as your base: 1) Bol on the island of Brac, or 2) the Makarska Riviera. Each will have good beaches and day trip options by boat.
- From Dubrovnik, I would consider these places as your base 1) Cavtat or 2) Orebic on the Peljesac Peninsula.
- Private accommodation, which tends to be self catering is the best value and often the best quality. We had a superb apartment in Bol.
- Rental cars are expensive in Croatia: the daily rates are high, full insurance is high, gas is expensive and the toll road is expensive (but super quality).
I hope this helps and if you want any more info, just send me a personal message.
Cheers
Mutiny
